Inspired by the Wallace Stevens poem, 13 Ways to See a Blackbird , I’ve been researching and drawing ubiquitous Crow.
Deconstructing what I assume and trying to see Crow as though I had never seen Crow before. As part of this adventure, reading how Crow inspires many tales in cultures around the world. Crow symbolizes many things, including; wisdom, filial piety, trickster, the underworld, ancestors and guardian. One of the interesting things I’ve researched is that throughout time perception of Crow has shifted from positive to negative to positive.
Crow shape shifts in our stories and minds. What does this say about us, the observer? Hoping this personal exploration will bring me new eyes to how I see everything.
